Stabilisation and dyeing
Woods that are more dense, more durable.
Stabilisation makes wood (or bone) denser and harder, and therefore easier to work. We use a stabilising resin based on natural cactus juice, which hardens with heat and alters the natural colour of the wood only very slightly.
-
01
Dry, clean wood
First of all, we make sure the wood (or bone) is perfectly dry and clean.
-
02
The vacuum chamber
The material is placed in a vacuum chamber with the resin.
-
03
The resin replaces the air
The air is removed from the chamber: it is replaced by the resin inside the material.
-
04
Curing and cooling
The resin hardens with heat, in an oven, then has to cool down.
-
